Portrait of the Christ Gallery Wrapped Canvas

The “Portrait of the Christ” painting by Richard L George

The “Portrait of the Christ” painting was made after another artist’s work at the special request of the owner of Upper Room Catholic Books and Gifts.

She explained that she had a portrait of Jesus that she would offer in her store but was no longer able to re-order it from her suppliers.

She took a Picture.

She had this one framed copy left and so she took a picture of it and emailed it to me.

She asked me to do my own version of the Portrait of Christ in the same pose. As I looked at the picture I really didn’t like the way it was cropped. I wanted to see more of a portrait.

So I responded by creating a full bust portrait.

Also, I wanted to capture a hint more of a compassionate gaze in my Portrait of the Christ painting.

I recalled the compassionate look given by actor Jim Caviezel in the Last Supper scene of “the Passion of the Christ” and that became another reference point for this portrait.
